How we use USPTO public data

For the MVP weekly digest we pull newly filed live marks from USPTO’s public Trademark Search API (tmsearch), filtered to Nice classes 029–033 and 043, then curate top picks and render the week’s email.

Longer-term production path: USPTO Open Data / bulk TRTDXFAP daily downloads with the same class filter (documented in-repo). Either way, every serial we publish comes from a real pull artifact — we never invent marks or serial numbers.

• Class filter + light goods/services noise rules (especially 043 / 031)
• Editorial curation for “top picks” (distinctive / brand-like signals — not a legal ranking)
• Readable weekly email with TSDR links per serial

Curation does not change USPTO records. Always verify on TSDR before commercial or legal use.

• Filing-date windows can lag index freshness; digests are weekly, not real-time opposition alerts
• Class 043 includes lodging and other services — we try to keep F&B-relevant GS, but false positives are possible
• Public search is not a substitute for counsel or a full watch service
